Who runs Redfield Area Development Corp.?

Do I need a building permit in Redfield, South Dakota?

Yes. Building Permits are required for ALL types of construction that involves concrete and there is NO minimum construction cost.

What are the business incentives in Redfield?

We offer a variety of federal, state and local incentives for new and existing businesses in Spink County, including:

Revolving Economic Development and Initiative (REDI) Fund

REDI is South Dakota’s flagship low-interest loan and is available to start-ups as well as businesses that are expanding or relocating to our state. Funds can be used for purchases,  site improvements, construction, acquisition or renovation of a building, or for the purchase and installation of machinery and equipment.

Workforce Development Grants

Available through the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development, eligible companies can access capital for training both new and existing employees to help sharpen their skill set as the company grows.  

Community Development Block Grants 

These are flexible federal funds that come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help South Dakota fund housing initiatives, improve infrastructure, and create jobs.

C&NW RR Depot Museum & Visitor Center

This beautiful, historic depot has been restored to its original grandeur so that railroad enthusiasts of all ages can enjoy historical memorabilia, model trains, engines and artifacts depicting the early days of the railroad.

Be sure to browse through the gift shop to select a souvenir! Open May - December. Admission is free.

Redfield Carnegie Library

We’re proud to be home to the oldest continuously operating Carnegie Library in South Dakota! Built in 1902, this lovely red brick building is worth a visit, whether you’re a history buff, book aficionado, or just love libraries!

Pheasant City Drive In

There’s nothing quite like the magic of enjoying a movie under the stars! A genuine delight for visitors over the past 72 years.  

They offer a wide assortment of concessions, including the best popcorn this side of the Missouri!  In fact, it is made in the original 1953 propane popcorn maker… yum! A must stop, fun, magical experience for the whole family!
